The Cayman Islands Aquatic Sports Association announced that 61 athletes will represent at the 2024 CARIFTA Championships, across swimming, synchro and open water. The pool and open water swimmers will compete in the Bahamas from 28 March–3 April, while the synchronised swimmers will not only compete, but also cohost the championships with Coral Springs Aquacades in Florida. While there were many standout performances at the Cayman Islands Aquatic Sports Association National Championships last week, only one swimmer produced two senior national records. Cayman’s Sierrah Broadbelt won a Gold medal in the 16 & Over 200M Fly at the Dubai Open Swimming Championship today, February 18, 2024. Fifteen-year-old Sierrah Broadbelt won second place and secured a Silver medal in the finals of the Girls 16 & O Fly Open category at the Dubai Open Swimming Championship today, Saturday, February 17, 2024. Her time was 1:03.59. Cayman’s top junior swimmers turned out by the hundreds for the Cayman Islands Aquatic Sports Association National Championships, held over the weekend. The athletes from five clubs, including Cayman Brac competed over four days at the Camana Bay Sports Complex pool. As 21st World Aquatics Championships (long course) nears its end, Cayman swimmers competing at the event have shown that they can hang with the best. Harper Barrowman set a new personal best of 2:06.36, in 200-metre freestyle on Tuesday, 13 Feb., during her heat – an improvement from her previous best of 2:06.49 – set at last year’s World Championships. Barrowman started things off for team Cayman in Doha, Qatar, prior to her 200m race. She swam the 400m free on Sunday, 11 Feb., finishing with a time of 4:27.30....

Cayman swimmer James Allison achieved a season best in the 100M Freestyle at the World Aquatics Championships in Doha, Qatar, today, Wednesday, February 14. This time was close to his personal best. Regarding his best time for this event, he previously clocked in 50.94 at the Commonwealth Youth Games in August 2023. Cayman's Harper Barrowman was all smiles as she received an early birthday present today, February 13, 2024, by setting a new personal best record in 200M Freestyle at the World Aquatics Championships in Doha, Qatar. After all Heats, her time of 2:06.36 put her ahead of a dozen swimmers, some of whom are from much larger countries.
